Greetings!

I'm hoping someone might provide some guidance on Speedy Entry as it relates to meter/click.

I am creating a lead sheet in 6/8 meter. I've added chords and now want to add melody by playing along with the chords using my MIDI keyboard.

When I use playback to hear the chords and the click, I am hearing six 8th notes per measure as expected. However, when I attempt to do record using Speedy entry, the meter/click changes back to 4/4. I've looked for a setting for this but can't find one. Can anyone provide some guidance?

I think you mean Hyperscribe rather than Speedy Entry for playing your notes in, since Speedy Entry is a step-time entry method. Are you sure your click for recording is not giving you two dotted-quarters per measure rather than six eighths?

Actually, that was one of the things I was confused about -- whether I should be using Hyperscribe or Speedy Entry. So yes - Hyperscribe -- thanks for clarifying! I was hoping to have Finale play the chords back to me, using the meter and time signature I specify, and I would play the melody I want.

When I'm just playing back the chords with the click, Finale is playing the 6/8 meter I want (1 click per 8th note -- six per bar). But when I use the "record" button (round button) on the Playback controls, is sounds like 4/4. I suspect the click is following the setting of the metronome, and I think 6/8 clicks two (dotted-quarter) beats to the measure.
