Hi all,

Has anyone here created any percussion MIDI maps for Superior Drummer 3's main drum kit? Trying to figure out a reasonable way to import an SMF made with SD3 in Digital Performer. Obviously there's some overlap with GM drum mapping, but there's wildly more in an SD3 kit than that.

Thanks!

Peter

I have SD3 but have never used it in Finale, only Digital Performer. If I was trying to sync the two, I’d use ReWire. Otherwise, I’d open QuickScribe and export as MusicXML that I would import into Finale. You can perform a similar function in Logic Pro X.

If not using ReWire and a DAW, as near as I can figure, you set up your tracks directly from SD3, use Export Song as MIDI File to generate tracks that you can use to set up notation in Finale.

Thanks for the reply, Mike. It's not that I want to use SD3 as a sound source within Finale, it's that I want to try to use Finale custom Percussion Mapping and drum layouts to automatically convert an SD3 drum part that I created in DP and imported into Finale into a standard drum set part (notated pitchlessly on a percussion staff). The GM percussion map works well for the basics, but the SD3 mapping is so vast that to create a complete layout for Finale would take a ton of time. So I was wondering whether or not anyone else had done it. :-)

Then the second part of my answer is as good as I’ll be able to suggest.
