Delete a layer

My searches came up with two methods of deleting a layer but neither of them work as efficiently as I would like. Could anyone help or make suggestions?

(1) JW Staff Polyphony plugin... This works extremely well with one big exception: Once I have removed a layer it disappears from the score but it is still hear on playback.

(2) Document / Show Active Layer Only. This also works but is very difficult to use - at least for me. I have lots of staves with multiple layers that have to be split up and moved to a different score and going through all the steps required makes it very prone to errors.

I would really like to use JW Staff Polyphony if I can figure out why the deleted layer still plays back. Any information about another efficient option that others may be aware of would be welcome.

If you still can hear the layer, it is not deleted, maybe just hidden.

To delete a layer, select it, then check Show Active Layer Only. Select the region and delete.

Uncheck Show Active Layer Only to see the remaining layers.

This can also be achieved with the JW Staff Polyphony plug-in.

To delete Layer 1 for instance, select the region and apply the plug-in like below (use Layers -> Remove -> Layer 1)

Thank you, but both of your suggestions are what I have already tried and noted that they do not work for me. "Document / Show Active Layer / Delete Region" requires too much manipulation of the data and it's very easy to make mistakes when doing this numerous times. JW Staff Polyphony is easy to use but "Remove" apparently only hides the layer because it is still there when played back via MIDI - I want it deleted.

I have tested JW Staff Polyphony. The layer is deleted, and cannot be heard afterwards.

There is something else at play, here... How many layers are used ? Are you talking about Layers or voices ?

Is the line that you hear also played by another instrument ?

RICK, I don't understand. If you only want to remove a layer, why is *Show Active Layer Only* not working for you? What exactly makes it too complicated?
