Hi. I just went back to using Finale on the Mac, after using it in windows. For some reason, when I go to score manager in some documents, all of the Garrison libraries are missing; only the Smart Music libraries show up. This happens if I open a file I created in windows, and also in a new default file document. If I open a template, however (eg., Jazz Band), the libraries show up. How do I get them back? I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Finale 26, Mac Mojave, Garritan Anthology, all newly downloaded within the past month.

For a start I would try MIDI/Audio > Reassign Playback sounds.

If this produces odd results, you would want to look at how you have set up your sounds in the leftmost column of the Score Manager.

Thank you for your kind reply. Sorry, but those had no effect. Here is a screen shot to show what I'm talking about. This document was created from the Finale Default File.

I do not know what instrument you had in the leftmost column of your original file, but if you started with a Defaul file and left that column as a Blank instrument, then Finale will not know what to assign to it.

You need to pull down the arrowhead to the right of the words "Blank Staff" and assign an instrument to the row.

If you did the same in the other files you are transferring, you will have to manually assign instruments to the row(s) of your Score manager.

If you want to use Garritan instruments instead, then you should set your file(s) to Play Finale Through  VST in the MIDI/Audio menu.

(The Default startup file always uses Play Through MIDI. Starting up new files with the Setup Wizard should help you get around this if your Sound Priorities are as you wish them.)

Okay, it was the "Play Finale Through AU" (not VST; this is on a Mac) that did it. Thanks so much.

BTW, the reason I started with the Default File, rather than going through the Set-up Wizard, was because, when I've spoken with Finale Tech Support in the past regarding issues, they have always suggested that I create a new document from the Default File. So I'd thought I'd avoid any hassle and just start with the Default File.
