Hi!

Is there any way to call/open the Key signature dialog box and the Time signature dialog box by keyboard shortcuts?

In order to avoid using the mouse to double click the staff first.

Not that I know of, sorry.

But in the Simple Entry Tool you can use your programmed metatools for Key Signatures and Time Signatures.

Have you changed the default metatools?

If not, there is a clear pattern in the metatools.

A. The default key signature metatools (If I recall correctly):

The rows on the keyboard correspond to increasing number of accidentals from left to right.

12345678 for corresponding sharps - major keys.  Note that 8 is no sharps/flats (C major).

QWERTYU for corresponding flats (1234567) - major keys.

ASDFGHJK again for sharps - minor keys.  Note that A is no sharps/flats (A minor).

ZXCVBNM again for flats - minor keys.

B. The default time signature metatools (If I recall correctly):

The rows on the keyboard correspond to increasing times from left to right.

1234567890 for ?/4 (1-9, and 12)

QWERTYUIOP for ?/8 (1-9 and 12)

ASDF for ?/2 (1-4)

XC for cut and common time, V for 3/4

C. In the Simple Entry Tool, hold down Alt (I think, am not sure), and hit the letter K key to enter a key signature.

Hold down Alt (I think, am not sure), and hit the letter T key to enter a time signature.

Thanks!

Hmm... me and simple entry has never been good friends...and I still need to move the mouse to activate simple entry.

As long as one only need one key, it is a good soultion, but most of the time I need the full dialog box. (and so with Time)

In Simple Entry. alt+k gives the opportunity to hit Enter to call the Key dialog.

I wonder if it is possible to call Simple Entry, then alt+k, then Enter with a script..... conncting that script to a shortcut would probably do the trick.

I suppose that you, by your words “activate simple entry”, mean “switch to the Simple Entry Tool”, right?

You can program keyboard shortcuts to Finale tools.

I could be wrong here, but I seem to recall some {keyboard shortcut} options in TG Tools.

Yes, I mean "switch to the Simple Entry Tool".

The problem is that there is no option for this under Menu Shortcuts in TG Tools. Not that I am able to find anyway. You can access most anything under Simple Entry, unless just switch to the tool. I have also the full version of TG tools on another PC, but I can't find anything there either. That is  why I am searching for another way in, or a workaround.

Unfortunately am using Mac Finale.

I do not know how to program a keyboard shortcut to a tool in Windows Finale.

But I seem to recall that it can be done, possibly via third party software.

Hopefully an experienced Windows user will chime in here.
