Hi-

Is there a "standard", ie. best suited/tested/applied, midi guitar set up that works best/better than others for Finale? I just can't seem to dig up a lot of info on the subject. It seems that of all the notation programs Finale gets used the least for this sort of thing.

I have had Finale forever, long before most other options for software notation were available. I self publish method books, make lead sheets and worksheets for students and my bands, and use notation and tab in one or two layers about 90% of the time. So, just basic stuff.

I want to incorporate more midi input to speed things along. Not so much hyperscribe, but that would be great if it worked. I already use a midi keyboard but really want a guitar set up.

What works best? I like everything I read about the Fishman Triple Play but almost none of it has to do with notation and zero references to Finale. Should I look elsewhere than Finale for this? I really only want to use midi to input notes and tabs. I'm not really interested in VST, soft synths etc . . . The $100 audio to midi devices seem best suited for sounds not input. I'm happy to plop down $400 if it works.

I am running Finale 25.5 with High Sierra.

Thanks!!!

For MIDI guitar setup in Finale, options like the Fishman TriplePlay are promising, although there might not be extensive documentation specifically for Finale. As a long-time Finale user, your experience with method books and lead sheets makes MIDI input appealing for speeding up your workflow.
