Hi, I once saw a guy do this - for a jazz drum part, he wanted the drums to play time (slashes) AND also some rhythmic figures underneath. I have no idea how he did it. Sometimes I copy a bar from his old finale file which I still have, and paste it into my own scores and then change the rhythms. It must have something to do with the Staff tool and settings and layers. Thanks everyone!
This is achieved with a staff style and 2 layers. Either modify the existing slash staff style or create a new one. Via the button "Alternate Notation", you determine to which layer the staff style is applied and you have boxes to impose that notes (etc...) be displayed in other layers.
Apply the staff style and in the other layer, enter your notes. Noteheads can be changed to an X.
