I have been trying to get rid of duplicates (I have about 4TB of files around 50% of which are duplicates - don't ask...) I have combined all my backups and tried to weed out redundant files but I also just noticed that pretty much all of my finales files, and there are thousands of them, are now .mus.ink files which won't open. They appear to be about 1.5 kb in size. All the .,mus files seem to have either disappeared or changed to this new type. I cannot find any help about this but hope that some of you experts can help. I cannot face the thought of 20 years of finale work to have disappeared. I have windows 10 and finale 12. Thank you so much for anyone that can offer some hope. Thanks.

Make sure you have an absolutely rock solid backup and restore method in place before you delete any files that you don't understand or even those you think you do.

I haven't worked a Windows support desk in over 15 years and am not going to try now. Sometimes, the best way to rid your system of garbage is to do a clean install. I'm not recommending that here but sometimes...

Thanks for responding Mike. I thought I was too old to make rookie errors but I think I did just that here!
