Hello Finale users -

I can't find anything in these forums that correlates with the problem I'm having, and have had in the past.

I am updating a file i wrote in an earlier version of Finale (I'm using 26.2 on a Mac running Catalina) When I update one or two words in a lyric line, the updated lyrics appear out of line (lower) than the rest of the lyrics. Sometimes if i delete the whole line of lyrics and re-type them (I type into score - I find it easiest) it solves the problem. But often it doesn't.

Is there a way to universally re-set the baseline of all lyrics so they are all in line?

Thank much

Eric in Seattle

Are you sure that you are in the same verse and layer? You might try double-clicking on a lyric, to make sure you are in the right place.

if that’s not the problem, you can move individual syllables from the Lyric menu > Adjust  Syllables.

Yes - same verse, same layer. I can toggle the misplaced words/syllables up and down to match the rest of the line, it's just tedious to have to go in and manually line things up. It seems there should be some sort of universal lyric baseline reset somewhere.

Try this: Lyric Tool > Adjust Syllables. Drag/select some syllables. Right-click in a handle, and choose Clear Manual Positioning.

Another option, under the lyric tool menu, select "adjust syllables". Each lyric should then display a handle. Drag select all the handles in a system, on a page, in a measure, whatever, then press the clear key. They should jump back to the default position.
