Finale 26.2, OS Mojave

When I apply stemless notation style (Document Options > Beams), it applies only to the current layer (in the example below, to the layer 1 - but if I select layer 2, the stemless notation style moves to it).

Even more bizarre: in Speedy Edit it looks different, as it should be normal even in Simple Edit.

Is there a solution?

At first I was confused by your words “apply stemless notation style”.

I thought you meant “apply Stemless Notes staff style”.

But the staff style Stemless Notes works - and your screen shot shows stems on all notes.

 

Then I realized that you meant the beams option Extend Beams Over Rests.

Perhaps you - by your word {stemless} - meant {flagless; beaming instead of flags} ?

 

Anyway, I can confirm the behaviour.

It certainly looks like a bug.

Do not forget to report the bug to MakeMusic.

 

PS

Here is another layout that might - or might not - be acceptable.

This layout uses straight flags (straight horizontal flags) that are positioned on the left stem side.

Such flags look like beam stubs:

Indeed it is.

I forgot to mention that. (Thanks for the notification)

As a (time consuming) workaround you could de-select Consolidate Rests Across Layers, and then, manually adjust the rests vertically.
