Using  Finale 25.5.  and Mac Mojave 10.14

I had gotten some help via the forum that seemed to solve the problem--I changed some channels, looked and made sure nothing was assigned to a percussion playback channel--none were assigned to 10, which I was told is designated percussion--but I changed any that were the same as those being used by percussion instruments anyway. However, upon opening the score today--not having touched it or done anything to any playback--once again all the strings (except the bass--go figure) are playing back as percussion. On the midi playback they are all assigned to Smartmusic soft synth string (49) prog. 49 ch. 2, on the audio playback they are assigned to Garritan violins KS Program 1 Channel 16.

In addition, some percussion sounds that were working before--the vibraslap and the cowbell--are now not playing back as those instruments. I didn't touch those settings either.

I noticed on some other people's posts that they've had trouble after using Zoom.  I did use Zoom since working on this score, though not in connection with my finale files.  Could there be some kind of computer virus that is spreading via Zoom?  Maybe that's a naive question, but I've never had these kinds of playback problems before, and Zoom is a new addition to my computer use.

What is going on????????

No. How you set up Zoom can affect your audio playback (big time) but I can't see it re-assigning your VIs.

It's possible that something you installed corrupted your System paths but it is unlikely that is the cause here. A Safe Boot will repair any corrupted System paths—boot while holding the Shift key, log into your Users Account when prompted. After your desktop icons rebuild, reboot normally. If holding the Shift key does not boot you into Safe Mode, let us know and include what Mac you have—I have more info for you.

It appears that you are going to have to go through your MIDI and VI setup to trace the problem. Sometimes, it's easier to delete the player(s) and start from scratch, instrument by instrument than try to repair messed up assignments—hopefully, you'll see the problem quickly.

Let us know what happens.
