OSX Catalina 10.15.4 Finale 26.01.706

I'm working on leadsheets for songs I'm writing, simple layout, piano part, vocal part, bass part. I just finished one, and everything went fine. But then I started the next song, and Finale simply won't play back through MIDI. I went back to the finished one - same story. It will play through Audio Units (although at reduced volume)  but no sounds through MIDI.

I'm using Logic Pro X in another window, that's functioning fine. I have a Tascam US2X2 midi interface which is an older unit but it seems to be working fine in other respects.

Screen shots of my MIDI config:

And in the Score Manager window:

Any tips appreciated.

actually I am starting to think it is the Tascam interface, it's probably ten years old, and even though I update the firmware, I think it's a possible source of the problem. But if anyone can spot anything about my setup please chip in.

First of all, I see that the Mute function is ON for the instruments shown on your ScoreManager.

Second, you say that you use Midi Playback, but as a midi interface doesn't generate any sound (and it is selected as the output), where are your midi sounds supposed to come from ?

Do you have an external sound module, synth keyboard ? In this case, Midi System (top right) has to be selected, like you have it now.

Or do you want to use SmartMusicSoftSynth (which is not selected in the ScoreManager) ? In this case, select SmartMusicSoftSynth there and in the ScoreManager.

FYI, I use an external sound module, and in my Midi Setup window, the midi interface is not selected at all, not as an input (I have my Midi keyboard there), nor as an output (my external module appears there).

We need more info on the sounds you use.

Although I cannot see the full assignment list for Voice, only the chords are muted in the Piano part.

Are you truly sending MIDI code to an outside player to produce your sounds? If so, is that module (presumably Logic, connected to the other end of your US-2x2) turned on and set to send info to your speakers?  I'm with Michel in suggesting you try sending your MIDI sounds through the SoftSynth to use Finale's included MIDI interpreter.

Thanks - that's it. Now you say it, it's obvious, but I just hadn't made the connection. Thanks for your help.  (I'm a bit rusty with Finale!)
