This kind of a pain to listen to a whole score just to confirm that a rhythm is correct. Spacebar-Click doesn't work any more? Windows 10, Finale 26

You are correct, Spacebar-click doesn't work.

If you work in scroll view, you can use Play from Leftmost measure.

Is it going to be fixed? I've been using it for years. How do I find Play from Leftmost Measure?

What about in Page view?

In Windows Finale, access is via the speaker button in the Playback controls. Play from Leftmost Measure works in Page mode too; it's just a little harder to set up sometimes.

Since we are mostly users here, we cannot say when the Spacebar Playback might be restored. (But when I tried it just now in the Seelection Tool, Spacebar+ Click worked for me in F26.3.)

I can confirm the space bar bug. However, it seems that if you only activate regular playback one time, space bar will work thereafter.  Weird, but true

What do you mean by "only activate regular playback one time"?

IOW, do it only one time once you've launched the program, any you should be good to go thereafter. That's been my experience

What are you doing to"activate regular playback" though?

I'm using a HP 15 laptop and spacebar doesn't work either. But coincidentally I found a solution that works for me.

- Press spacebar and keep it down.

- Then press Alt and let it go.

- Then click.

On my previous HP 15 laptop I had to use the same solution.

Finale has the worst customer service. They can't seem to reproduce the problem, therefore it doesn't exist.

How can Finale Support fix a problem they cannot reproduce?

I'm sorry you have been having difficulty.

Michael,

It is unfortunate to hear that your experience with our support team was not good. I have been looking at your case to identify what could be better there so hopefully we can make sure to get you the info you need in a better manner next time.

The function for SPACEBAR+click to start the audition playback does work on both Mac and Windows platforms. However, there are some details to to be aware with this action.

On Mac, the Playback Controls palette must be closed first or this will to work. If the palette is open, pressing SPACEBAR will start playback normally and holding it will start a continuous pause/play loop while the button is down. When the palette is closed though, you will get different behavior, and playback will wait for the click to start. Not necessarily very intuitive, but it does work.

On Windows, there can be some difficulty with hardware constraints on laptops that will prevent this from working properly. In particular, there are settings that will prevent the touchpad from responding while a keyboard key is pressed. This is in-place to prevent accidentally pressing buttons on the touchpad as you type. There are ways to disable this behavior which vary depending on the laptop being used. We have one way of disabling this listed in our knowledge base article here. I hope this helps.
