Running V26.1 with no problem for the last year. Finally decided to update my OS to High Sierra (I run a lot of other music software...ProTools, Logic, plus 3rd party plugins so once I get things stable, I tend to try to stick with it).  I was forced by our IT dept to update from Sierra to at least High Sierra, for security purposes.  Now, I can't get my current version of Finale to playback anything.  In the attached screen shot, none of the dropdown bars contain anything....just empty. Do I just to need to update Finale to v26.3?  Will that solve everything?

There is no conflict but you need to learn about High Sierra and later MacOS.

Start here — same answer as this thread.

Most AV apps require an audio input. If not using an interface, select the internal mic. High Sierra adds a security step to this process. You need to read this support doc from Apple as you'll likely be doing the same for many apps:

https://support.apple.com/guide/audio-midi-setup/set-up-audio-devices-ams59f301fda/mac

Updating to the latest build of any app is always a good idea. There have been bug and compatibility issues.
