Use the Text Insert "Page Number" and assign it to a page range, say, 2-0 (with 0 [zero] meaning to the end of the document). Add a page offset from the Text menu > Edit Page Offset...

Hi George, I have tried this..  It still doesn't work. I am missing something in this.  

From what you've said, it sounds like you have created two different text boxes; one for page 1 and another for the rest of the pages. If you *did* use the Text Insert > Page Number, then I'm not sure why all subsequent pages have the same page number. That occurs when *not* using the page number insert and simply typing a number in the text box.

You should only need one text box for page numbers if what you are doing is straightforward.

Hi George.. Sorry.. I still cannot get it to work.  I did manage to make page 1 as page 30 but it doesn't change the rest of the pages to follow sequence..  I know I am doing something wrong.. could you please be very specific, step by step what I should be doing.. I have copied your instructions and followed them and still am having problems.. I know.. I am very computer illeterate!  Sorry!  

Are you using the Text > Edit Page Offset box to change your page numbers?

I just tried this and notice it does NOT work as I remember it. In the past it offset all subsequent page numbers; now it only offsets the page number selected for editing and highlighted.

Okay: here's what I found that will work:

1. Set the Page Offset as you wish.
2. Create a new Text Field on your first page.
3. Fill it with Text > Insert > Page Number (which should show the offset.
4. Delete the existing page number fields (which you should be able to do by deleting one of them)
5. Right-click on your newly created, offset page text field and select Edit Frame Attributes to apply the page numbers to all your pages and position them as you wish.

I'm still on 26.2 and haven't upgraded to 26.3 because of a project I've been working on. Does the page numbering and offsets not work as *usual* in 26.3?

Adrian.. I just tried your suggestion.  I got as far as renumbering the first page as page 30, however the rest of the 6 pages still do not respond.  I have tried several variations, and still nothing works with getting the rest of the pages to go, 31, 32, etc.. they all went page 31, then changed page 30 ( old page 1) to page 31..  I am soooo at a loss..  

How are the Frame Attributes set up on your Page 1 (Page 30) text insert?

Assuming things work as expected:

STEP 1:

Delete all of your current "page number" text boxes.

STEP 2:

Create a new Text Box using the Text Tool and enter the page number using the Page Number Insert:

STEP 3:

Enter the Text Box and select the Page Number Insert, then enter a page offset:

STEP 4:

Apply a page range for the Text Box, and/or setup Left/Right page number positions so that Left Page page numbers are on the left edge of the page and Right Page page numbers are on the right edge of the page; or whatever page number orientation you'd like.

To do this, right-/context-click on the Text Box's handle with the Text Tool selected and select *Edit Frame Attributes...*

STEPS 3 and 4 are interchangeable.

If you need a different page number offset somewhere in the document, you'd need to create a new Text Box and repeat the above steps.
