I would like to create a file (presumably a MIDI file) from a piano score created with Finale (Version 26) in order to "play" it through the Yamaha through "MIDI IN" (5 pin DIN).

This keyboard has audio speaker output and would be ideal to accompany a live instrument. The keyboard is remote from my Mac and would need to have the file transferred to a Mac Book or an iPad.

Apart from a USB to MIDI IN and OUT adapter what else would be necessary to achieve this?

I think I have this same keyboard in my garage. When it looked like we were going to be making a lot of music online, my wife decided she needed something with a much better action so I replaced it with a Yamaha P-121. The 270 is a decent, if limited MIDI controller and the built in sounds aren’t bad at all.

You’ll need an application to play the MIDI file — it can be Finale, BTW—you’re allowed to install on two stations. Read the manual so you can set up the MIDI file that you’ll be exporting if not a Finale file (or set up the Finale file)..

Also, you need an interface to convert the USB MIDI to DIN. Tons o’units out there at all price ranges. It’s easy but you’ll need to read the documentation.

You can trigger up to 16 channels on that Yamaha. Get familiar with the manual.
