Finale Version 2016
Purchased a New Laptop and cannot open my 2016 Finale Files.
Probably a path issue—not uncommon with Windows.
If you still have your old Win machine, follow the exact path and make sure that your files are installed in the same directory on the new one. You may have to find the location of the app after double-clicking on one of the files. After the first one opens, the rest in the same directory should be fine.
You can open Finale 2006 files in 26, the current version. There may need to be some tweaking of the fonts to make it work but it can be done.
Finale 26 can save files in 2012 format. It can also export files in current and older versions of MusicXML so that older versions of Finale can open the files going back to Finale 2000.
Of course, many features of 26 will not be backwards compatible even if exported as MusicXML but you'll find that out as you progress.
MakeMusic will upgrade any version of Finale for the same price, normally $149. The 30-day trial is fully functional.

I don't know if MakeMusic will offer any Black Friday pricing this year — if so, it will happen within that 30 day trial period so be on the lookout.
