Sorry, for now, smufl is more a bug than a feature. Most importantly, my custom templates are useless if I want to use smufl. (Can’t change non smufl to smufl) Also, if I want to copy and paste (which I’ve done for YEARS) from non smufl to smufl - can’t do. Workaround is xml - Hardly efficient. Thanks for allowing us to still use non smufl fonts - but to take advantage of the innovation - I will wait till they fix this basic flaw.

Yes. Another half-baked "feature."

Dorico, being new (relatively speaking), has the luxury of introducing a new feature, such as TABs or Condensing, and then perfecting it over subsequent updates. Because Finale has been around so long, folks seem to expect every change or addition to appear fully formed.

Generally speaking, I would agree; but some changes (or additions) like SMuFL are so new (and not totally under Finale's control) that I think it fair to give them some time to make it work perfectly. No doubt they tried to cover everything to start with, but if one does not like the SMuFL implementation, Finale has given folks the option to ignore it, which also seems fair.

IMWO, SMUFL is way overkill for the greatest majority of users. Us common folk (simple farmers, people of the land, the common clay of the new west... You know, morons) probably don't need Athenian Sagittal extension Accidentals, or 120 different clefs.

The only part I really care about in SMuFL is that first 'S' for "standard". I don't like being trapped in proprietary formats, and SMuFL and MusicXML 4 are a big deal to me because they represent a major step towards interoperability.

Of course, I've spent decades of my career trying to get software to properly support Unicode and standard data formats, so I might be a wee bit biased...
