I am on Finale 2014.5 on Mac and Windows 10.

I've used Finale for many years and never encountered this before! I was chugging along fine writing a piece on Finale. Along the way (around page 10 where measure 50-ish is), something clearly happened, where the whole program slowed down as if it was trying to process too much memory. I ignored it and finished writing the last two pages.

But as I got further away from measure 50ish, the memory process returned back to normal. The black hole!

Sure enough, if I start on Page 1, everything it fine. The closer I scroll to measure 50ish, Finale slows down further and further to a standstill. If I can manage to I scroll away from that measure, it improves.

Nothing on the page looks out of the ordinary. Nor did I do anything special in that area.

I tried alot of different things to fix it. I restarted the program and the computer. I even opened the file on a different operating system. I copied the whole project into a new template. I tried to delete the area where I thought the issue was (from around measures 45-55), but I couldn't even delete those measures, Finale just froze.

Anybody know what the issue is?  Could maybe somebody help take a look directly at my .MUS file?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

One thing more to try:

Export as MusicXML, and import the MusicXML into a new, fresh document.

Thanks Peter, that method worked!

(Still a very strange issue though)
