Cannot stop text in expression tool from snapping to grid

Mac OS X 11.4 Big Sur, Macbook Pro, using Finale 27.0.0.782.

The text in the expression tool (rehearsal marks) is snapping to grid, even though I have turned OFF the snap to grip option. I want to be able to move the text freely to where I place it, or it does what you see below:

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
