The simple entry with computer keyboard does not work with my PC and the tutorial is not detailed and clear enough for me to follow. How do you make  the numbers on my computer keyboard  work for simple entry?

Pressing number 5 or 4 on my keyboard does not give me quarter notes and eighth notes. Instead these keystrokes produce other unexpected notes. Why did this happen?
