I've just installed Finale 27 and then Noteperformer, TG Tools etc. However I find that I cannot write harmonics with the 'easy harmonics plug-in'. In previous versions of Finale I had no problem. When I try to apply the artificial harmonics I get a very big circle above and to one side of the notes. The playback now seems to be correct. I'd be very grateful to know if anyone has had a similar problem and if you have any ideas about it.

I have a MacBook Air OS. BIG SUR.11.5.2

Welcome to the forum!

You are using the new SMuFL fonts - right?

The plug-in does not (yet) recognize the new SMuFL fonts.

As a solution (for now), instead create a document that uses the older “legacy” fonts.

Thank you for your reply. I tried to find the font that I'm using. I went to Documents Options - Set Default Music Font and tried both Finale Maestro and Finale Legacy but they didn't seem to make a difference. Also the harmonic symbol from the articulations has no effect when I apply it to the harp.

I have not seen SMuFL anywhere in my Settings or Fonts but I heard it mentioned a lot when the programme was first released.

IIRC Any font name that starts with the word Finale is a new SMuFL font and will not work with the older plug-ins. You will probably have to export your file as XML and then import it into a new file created with one of the legacy styles.

Ok. Thanks very much, I will try that. I am rather disappointed that the new Finale doesn't seem to offer me a way to play back harmonics of any kind though, even with its own articulations set. This is a grave shortcoming it would seem to me.
