Details: Finale 2014.5 / Windows 10

As a band composer, I love to use brake drums a lot in my pieces. However the default sound mapped to the brake drum is just a bass drum sound and that leaves a lot to be desired. I have a really good brake drum sound I'd want to use. How do I import/add that one .wav file of sound into Finale to where I can use it along side the other percussion sounds? Cheers.

Probably not the most convenient method (I hope a sfz-file guru will respond with better info) but in the worst case, Finale has an audio track where you might be able to position the sound if it only appears intermittently.

I have found if you want Finale to show a "properly" notated percussion staff and you want Finale to play it back correctly you need seperate staffs. This will probably be easier than trying to get the third party wav sound in Finale. When you make the sound percussion staff make sure it doesn't print.

Which sound library/playback device are you using? Setting up percussion requires selecting both a percussion midi map and a percussion layout. Admittedly I may have skimmed by it in the documentation but I don't see a brake drum listed in any of the default playback option, SmartMusic Soft Synth, Garritan Instruments for Finale, or Finale Tapspace VirtualDrumLite. There is a brake drum instrument available in the full version of Virtual Drumline. I'll help in anyway possible.

I am sorry if I indicated there was a good break drum sound. I simply wanted to say the easiest way to force Finale to make better percussion sounds is with additional and separate staffs.
