Is there a way to automate placement of segnos & codas? I would like to have the segno centered over the barline (per Gould), and the coda to be placed before an indented staff. The only way I know to place these signs now requires adjustments in the Repeat Assignment dialog.

And why, once I have it positioned in a part, I go to the score, enter the positioning for the sign, it appears in different places in the other parts. In other words,the sign looks good on the tpt part at -98 horiz and 54 vertical, so I go to the score, enter those numbers, then click Relink in All Parts. Yet the sign appears somewhere in the left margin on some parts, rather than centered over the left barline (if there was one).

In this case it might be easier to use the Expression Tool (rather than the Repeat Tool).

In the Expression Tool there are many more options for defining the default positioning.

 

Getting an expression (like a Segno symbol) centered over the Left Barline is no problem at all.

I would create an expression category especially for that (e. g. by duplicating the category Tempo Alterations).

 

Is repeat playback important? You can get repeat playback with hidden text repeats.

Excellent suggestion! It took me awhile to get the right positioning in my template, but that was time well spent, and will save me loads of time in the future. And no, repeat playback is not important. I mainly use playback as an aural spellcheck. Thank you very much!
