What's the best way to handle a part that has that "in-between" length--too long for one page, and too short to fill two pages? Resizing, putting less measures in each stave, or putting less staves on a page all look bad. I have been just placing a few (4-5) staves on the second page, and leaving white space at the bottom as the best approach I could think of. Is there a better way? Windows 10 and Finale 25.5.
What is the part for? Publishers may make everything look nice and even, but it the part is simply to have an instrument play for you (and an audience) the goal is to make the part as clear as possible for the player to save rehearsal time and evoke the best possible performance. How much of a page the music takes up is secondary to that goal.
