Good morning!

I am a heavy finale user, which I use to write scores for my choir.

I am using since ages, the ability to export to PDF the score and with v27 the problem that text was incorrectly rendered (no bold) has been fixed.

On my system, a new bug appeared and I find now myself with wrong sized pages with export PDF function. They are taller than A4 and when printed the printer re-scales them producing unusable scores.

This happens with the File/Export/PDF option, but if I "print to PDF" using Adobe PDF or Microsoft PDF Printers the page is correctly printed, so it is a problem with the Finale export PDF function that is tanking wrong page dimensions somewhere (I also set the Page Setup menu, the one above print, to A4 but to no avail.)

Also, when I export, the file name is no more populated with the same .musx file name, so I always have to type in the file name...

Has someone of you also experienced this odd behaviour? Can it be fixed somehow?

Presumably Finale files printed to PDF take the paper size specified in finale document settings to set the relative proportions of width and height.

Then the PDF will use those proportions when printed out on paper, which means some margins may be increased or parts of the image cut off depending on the (new) settings one sets for the PDF program. PDF does not use the Printer settings AFAIK.

Thought about that, but it seems to be correct. If I go to that window, I can see A4 (converted to cm, 20,9991x29,70389 which is accurate since A4 is 21,0x29,7).

But the exported PDF is 215,9x355,6 which is a format I don't recognise (EDIT: It seems to be "Legal" format, something english).

I don't know which engine Finale uses to export to PDF but it seems that it is ignoring the page size and exporting to Legal anyway, unless there is another setting which I don't know.

The problem arose with v27...v26 was just fine.

I'm trying to export to musicxml to see if it is something file related or software related.

I need to export to PDF in 10X13 inches, how can I create this paper size?

I responded in the other thread where you posted this.

I don't know which engine Finale uses to export to PDF…

Finale for Mac uses the MacOS.

Windows does not have a built-in PDF engine. You must use a 3rd party app. Microsoft has discontinued their Microsoft Print to PDF that was included in early builds of Windows 10—too many problems. Cute PDF is used successfully by many Windows users here.
