Here is a short video where I follow JAV's steps. The first time I drag the hairpin is without Option depressed. The second time is with.

Peter, in the score, I don't see any difference between holding Option and dragging, vs dragging. The smart shape just moves and the in and out attach points also move.

Thank you for offering your ideas and help. The culprit in this case is the dashed line smartline, and the rit...... smart line, not the slur.

I cannot move it to a previous or following measure, especially if the measures wrap around a new staff. You are challenging why I want to do it. Please believe that I want to.

@Peter, the smart shapes need to be all lined up in the score given the score's layout. But in the part, the shape needs a different position.

In the part, I try dragging the smart shape by the handle, but it remains attached to the same spot.
