I encountered a similar challenge and resolved it by the 3/4 + 1/4 technique. I also needed the double bar remaining.

And then I hided the time signature using the Measure Attributes tool. --> Time signature : always hide. Looks excellent now.

Note : In Speedy Entry I use the "/" sign to build or break the beam. Works not for the measures starting with a rest. Jo De Witte
