Hello all,

I am using Finale 2014,5,6359 in Windows 10.

I have the issue with beaming over rests as pictured below.

If the measure (in 3/4) starts with an eight note, I can easily do beaming over the rests in between by using the Speedy Entry tool.

However, I need the opposite.

The measure starts with an eight rest ... and then I can not beam over the rests following the 8 eight note.

Anyone that has the solution ?

Thanks,

Jo De Witte

Note : In Speedy Entry I use the "/" sign to build or break the beam.  Works not for the measures starting with a rest.

Insofar as the rhythms in the passage are as your example indicates, you can use the Time SIgnature Tool, at least for those measures.

This works for me:

Utilities menu > Rebeam > Rebeam to Time Signature…

To beam the 8ths together, rebeam to a time signature with only one beat, and beat duration a dotted half.

Hi Peter,

I knew it should be easy and tried to change some of the time signatures, but did not come to your solution.

It Works !

Many thanks.

And then I hided the time signature using the Measure Attributes tool.

--> Time signature : always hide.

Looks excellent now.

I thought you wanted the opposite. Sorry I was so hasty reading your post.

I am confused. ?!?

There is no need to hide the time signature.

From your description it is my guess that you did not follow my instructions about rebeaming to another time signature than the actual time signature. (using the Rebeam utility)

Did you perhaps change the actual time signature? (using the Time Signature Tool)

There is no need to change the actual time signature.

Peter,

You are completely right.  Using the Time Signature Tool, also the beaming in other staffs do change.

I reworked the passage using the Rebeam Utility for the selected measure range and it is now as should be.
