Y0u are correct. I misread the page.
You might need to reinstall the program. Even if you no longer have the installation disc, you can go to your account on the Finale website, and download it.
Try the Graphics export as a PDF, and see if that prints pure black.

If you are playing Finale through MIDI, you can export as an MP3. To clear glitches, try Clear Selected Items... > MIDI Data. You could also try exporting as XML, and Importing same.
