The hyphen in lyrics is tied into the "skip to the next syllable" paradigm, and as such, is tied to the preceding syllable. (My theory, anyhow!) Why not italicize the stressed syllable, instead?
Why not just do them as expressions? Set up a flat, and a sharp, and place them as you want.
