Ahhh... I have SmartScore Pro. Same problem—the instructions are out of date and assume that you have a PPC. Use Image Capture.app to scan. Now you will be able to convert and import it.

What version of Finale? Scanning and TIFF import have been removed from Finale 25.

You don't need a TB monitor. Apple discontinued theirs a few months ago and no longer offers one. TB ports accept an inexpensive Mini Display Port adapter to HDMI — any modern backlit LCD monitor...
