Mac or Windows?

Try going to the download again and do a custom install of the fonts only. I'd reboot the computer first just to double check and reboot if you reinstall the fonts.

Do you have an install of a previous Finale version, like 2014 or 2014.5? Does the file open properly on one of those? If so, you might want to stick with the version that actually works, temporarily.

Oooooh, good question. I can guess but it would be better if we know. If it came from Encore on a Mac, I know how to fix it.

Also, we still need to know if this is Mac or Windows.

Update: Sorry. This is from Finale 2014.5. I just realized that I opened the file in this version, and not the new finale. I still shouldn't have that problem. However, I restarted for the 4th time and everything is back to normal. Go figure. Thanks!

I've seen this quite often in Finale 2014.5 on MacOS. The noteheads only disappear in one specific zoom level. Changing the zoom level or reopening Finale brings them back.

Hi Philip,

Since this does appear to be in Finale 2014.5, you may want to be aware of this program error that has to do with some Mission Control settings: Page items display incorrectly, changes don't take effect, cannot select items (Finale 2014.5 for Mac).

The circumstances under which this occurs are conditional (you need at least one document minimized and a particular system preference active) so it makes it seem intermittent. More details in the article above.
