With Print Music, you can hide courtesy time signatures only. Otherwise, no.

If you own a copy of Finale 2008, you have an upgrade path to 25 where you have great flexibility when it comes to hiding time signatures.

When I contacted MakeMusic I was told I could no longer update Finale 2008, rather that I would have to purchase the latest full Finale program.  Is that what you mean by upgrade to 25?

So they won't allow you to upgrade a 10 year old version? That's short sighted. Especially since you can use it to cross grade to another product and then use that license to crossgrade back to Finale.

I'm sorry to be so clueless, but what does crossgrade mean?  Being able to read notation files in any notation program regardless of which program created it?

I see you were in contact with us earlier this year, and it appears there may have been a miscommunication about your upgrade options. I double-checked your account, and I can see that you do have the option to upgrade from Finale 2008 to Finale v25.

Crossgrade is shorthand for a competitive upgrade. A valid license from one professional notation product can be used to obtain a discount from a competing product.

That is MusicXML. Currently, Finale 25 has incorporated the most up to date version of this tool (v.3.1). Depending on the implementation by the developers of other applications, its effectiveness ranges from "useful but..." to extremely good. In addition, there are other apps that can import/export data via .xml such as Logic and other DAWs as well as Band-In-A-Box and music scanning tools such as SmartScore X2 Pro.
