Brand new to Finale.

Just installed it on Windows 7 machine and I'm not getting any playback.

1. I am unable to get any playback. I've looked in all the MIDI and playback settings and I get nothing.

2. The playback controls are there but when I hit play there is no sound and the needle doesn't even move.

3. I'm also not getting any sound at all when I enter notes.

Any ideas?

Does anyone have an idea?

I did install Finale according to the instructions, everything that came with the software.

Sucks to get such an expensive software and I can't hear any note input or get any playback.

Hi Darren,

 

That certainly is a frustrating situation! It sounds like your audio engine may be failing to load on startup. To get started troubleshooting, I would recommend first trying the steps in this knowledge base article.

Check to see what audio driver you are using. Sometimes when I open Finale it has been (re)set to ASIO, which produces no sound on my machine (at least in Finale). I reset the driver to DirectSound and everything works smoothly. Look in the MIDI/Audio > Device Setup menu.

Just a quick thanks for your help.

 

The problem is solved!!!

 

All I had to do was reboot the computer after install and everything is operating as it should.
