Mac Big Sur, Finale current V26 Entering the rests and notes of layers 1 and 2 in either order, the rest of layer 2 gets superimposed on the note of layer 1. Is there any way of moving the rest?
I'll guess that you don't have Automatic Music Spacing and Automatic Update Layout selected in Preferences. Select the measures, and tap the 4 key to respace. CMD-U to update layout.
In Finale's help files, enter the search words "move rests vertically", you'll find out how to do this in simple or speedy entry.
