Hopefully, under $400. Will upgrade MacBook Pro around Christmas. Experience? Recommendations? Traps to avoid?
A big thank you!
I helped a friend with this just yesterday. He's a Sibelius user but I don't hold that against him. I have two LG 27" 4Ks, one on each side of my iMac Pro.
Yea, this is doable—there are some under $300 on Amazon — search 32 4k monitor to see your many choices. Depending on the MBP, you may need to get a different cable than the one that comes with the monitor but pretty much any HDMI or Display Port 4K monitor can be hooked up to any Mac made from 2009 on. Many monitors have ports for both protocols. If built-in speakers are needed, check the specs as not all have them.
Many 32" 4K monitors are curved. I don't care for that unless it's your main monitor and the MBP is the side. Main/Side/R/L are all choices that you make in System Preferences (System Settings in Ventura) /Displays.
Many M1 and M2 Macs only allow one external monitor without a DisplayLink box. Read your MBP's specs if this is an issue for you.
As for Finale, you can park tool palettes onto your side monitor(s) but it's a crapshoot whether or not they will stay parked the next time you open the file. Many complaints about that over the years and it's not been fully resolved.
