Windows

I'm starting a 4 part unaccompanied piece and the file has developed a playback glitch.

The soprano part, for only the first 3 measures, plays back a step higher than written. This file has been open for a couple of hours, and I've been letting it sit until I'm ready to do the next phrase. All I've done is note input, nothing else. This glitch surfaced out of nowhere.

To test what was going on, I copied the notes from the first 3 measures, pasted them into the alto part, and the playback was fine. I then pasted the same notes into the soprano part later in the score, and the playback was fine. I then muted the other 3 parts, started playback in the soprano part in measure 4, and the playback was at concert pitch.

I've also closed/reopened Finale, and restarted the computer.

Hi Jeffrey,

How odd! I am curious, if you save a new version of the file to try a test (File > Save As) and then in the new version of the file choose MIDI/Audio > Reassign Playback Sounds, does the piece still playback transposed incorrectly?

I have this problem right now - Thursday January 28th 2021- for the 2nd or 3rd time - with my Finale v25. Out by a minor 2nd - and sounding kind of weirdly "echoing". It's hugely frustrating as I am trying to crack on with a commission.

Is this only one part out of many, or is everything a semitone off?

If it's everything, check to make sure your Finale audio device setting and your sound card/Windows(?) setting are the same, 44.1K or 48K.

Hi Adrian. It’s only one part out of many - latterly electric guitar and alto sax.

Then you may want to use the "Submit a request" link at the top of the page to contact MakeMusic Support and attach a sample of your file for them to check.
