A silly question but io have to ask.   

When adding a measure repeat symbol, the score continues with the click.  Is there an option to playback  the actual notes in the previous measure?  I was just accustomed how  MuseScore used the measure repeat symbol with playback.

Yes. Copy the notes into the measure(s) and then apply the staff style.
