I have a MAC High Sierra, latest version, Latest version of Finale..   I have no idea how to define what I am doing so had a hard time finding it in the user manual.  I am inputting my American Song Cycle..  The majority of the songs have an average of 11 verses.  I'd like to be able to type in, for example, verses 1-4 for the A section, and then chorus (B section) the other verses.  How do I change the spacing of the staves to do this? 

Also.. I have notices when adding lyrics where one verse, you have a word for a quarter note, but in the 2nd verse, 2 syllables or words for 2 eighth note values.  I took the suggestion to do a second layer, but when you add lyrics.. you have to keep changing the layers to accommodate the lyrics.  Is that normal?  It becomes time consuming, which isn't a problem..but was wondering if there was a simpler method?
