Using the staff tool, drag the staves farther apart by the handle at the left.

Thank you. Ok, that was a simple fix when it comes to how close the lyrics are to the second staff. But how to give more space between the notes of the first staff and the lyrics?

I'm trying to notate this music so both soprano and alto parts are on the first staff and the tenor/bass one the second staff. I use the first layer for the soprano part and a second layer for the alto part. This causes the beams of beamed notes to run right through the first verse of lyrics.

You use the arrows at the left edge of the lyrics. The extreme left arrow will move all of the lyrics through the piece. The second arrow from the right moves the lyrics in that staff, only.

You must be in the same layer as the notes that the lyrics are attached to.
