Windows 7 Pro, Finale newest version.   This one has me stumped!    A friend using Finale on a MAC Catalina 10.15.3 sent me this file (is there any way i can get the file to you?).   He's not all that savvy about Finale, so I stripped away all the endings he had inserted.   At the end of the piece, i used REPEAT / CREATE FIRST AND SECOND ENDING, as usual.  I inserted a FORWARD REPEAT by clicking on bar 2 as usual.  It plays the piece with the first ending, repeats to bar 2, and plays the piece again.  But when it reaches the second ending, it just stops without performing the second ending.   I'm baffled and will simply COPY / PASTE the entire piece twice, unless someone can solve the mystery.   Thanks for your help.

Now this is really weird!   I deleted all the endings.  Then i COPY / PASTED the entire song into the score 3 times (for the 3 stanzas).   On playback, at the end of the first stanza, playback just stops.

One reason could be : in the Playback controls window, the ending measure of playback. It should be "end".

P.S. : it is hard to figure out the piece without seeing it, but if you create a repeat, it is not necessary to create a forward repeat separately.

Select the whole region to be repeated, and use the menu command "Create Simple Repeat". Then select the region to be included in the 1st ending and in the menu, "Create first and second ending". This way, Finale takes care of playback.

Thanks a million, Michael!   I likely would never have figured that out on my own.

Thanks, Mike Rosen.   Of course, the resources you provide are essential to mastering Finale.    Since i have used a half-dozen versions of Finale, Allegro, and other notation programs for decades, i've worked a lot with D.S., D.C., repeats, and second endings.   But this is the first time i have encountered a problem with PLAYBACK SETTINGS / STOP AT.     It's a mystery why my colleague unintentionally set "PLAYBACK SETTINGS / STOP AT" to bar 27.   Why would anyone ever want to stop playback anywhere other than the end of the composition?    This is one i won't soon forget!

This maybe happens  when measures are being added mid-piece, just a guess...
