I am composing a piece where the piano in the bass clef, has a D octave then D minor chord, then D octave and then D minor chord,  The D octave is to be played an octave lower than written with the d minor chord played as written.  I always thought you place an 8vb sign below the octave to designate that.  While it looks correct on paper, the problem is the playback, it has the entire LH in that measure playing an octave lower.  Is there anyway that this can be corrected or edited?  I have noticed in the past 20 years that I hav used Finale, that this is always the case, and unless I attempt A LOT of ledger lines, which it won't go that low, it never plays back as should be.

Use the 8va of the Smart Shapes, and drag the horizontal dotted line to cover the duration. I just tried to apply this to one note and it works.
