I have a song, The Boar's Head Carol, which has three verses, and each of those verses contain words in Latin. I'm creating a new reproduction of this score for the men's gospel group I sing with. My desire for each verse is to enter the actual lyrics using the English and Latin, and then under that verse type in the English pronunciation of the Latin words, repeating the process for verse 2, and then verse 3. I have Finale 26.2.2.494 for Macintosh, and I seem to be limited to only 4 verses. To enter the pronunciations for each Latin word in each verse, I seem to need to be able to use 6 verses. How do I do that?

I am no longer using Finale v26, but I have never experienced a limitation of only 4 verses.

I wonder how you are experiencing the limitation of only 4 verses?

In the window Lyrics I can click the up-arrow icon to get to the next verse.

- You can not do that?

Also, Finale offers both Verses, Choruses, and Sections.

- You have not tried that?

As you may have figured out already, I am not an avid user of Finale, but it comes in handy for when I do have a project. I guess I just assumed the directions in the Finale manual were correct and accurate, especially when it said that lyrics could only be entered if there were notes in the same layer where you wanted the lyrics placed. With three verses, and a second line for each verse to translate Latin phrases into a line which showed how to pronounce the Latin words, that would mean 6 lines of lyrics, which I guess I assumed would mean there would be six lines, meaning six verses. Looks like I'll have to try to prove you are correct in the methods you suggested. Thanks for the assist. Sandy

My first suggestion would be that you write the song out three times. Having 6 lyric lines (3 of which are solely for pronunciation) is just asking for trouble.

Ok... Part of my Christmas Book 2025 update was to rearrange The 12 Days of Christmas. If I wanted to add twelve verses to a line it's not a problem (not that I would but...)

To do it manually, have the Lyric Tool up. Click on the first note. Use the down arrow on your keyboard to scroll through your verses. When you've scrolled through them, hit the down arrow again create new verses. Couldn't be easier.
