I'm running windows with finale 27.  I had composed Jupiter by Holst in v26 and wanted to copy everything to v27 just for my own personal listening pleasure. However, it will not play split parts. it will only play one note of said split part. I may be asking finale for too much, but if there's a way to fix it without having to re-write the entire piece, that would be more than helpful. If not, eh, whatever.

No idea what you mean by "split parts." (It could mean any number of things.)

In addition to getting a better idea what you mean by split parts, we would need a bit more information to help you. What sound source (VST's) are you using to produce the sounds? How are the non-playing parts set up in the Score Manager?

(And finally, does Gustav Holst know you actually "composed" Jupiter? If so, you were very kind to let him claim it as his own? Kidding, of course.)

You haven’t told us enough to begin guessing what the issue might be. See this:

It could be that your instrument assignments are different. Are you running the 27 demo or have you purchased? Your title says copying over — huh? Why not open up the old doc in 27 and reassign the instruments? If running the demo, you can’t do that with the latest Garritan Instruments for Finale since you don’t get those till you’ve purchased. Likewise, when you purchase, you need to run all 3 installers contained in the package or you might be making calls to libraries that you haven’t installed. There are other possibilities…

it was 3 in the morning when i wrote this so my brain wasn't all there. i own finale 27. I didnt even think about reassigning all the instruments. But I'll admit, I don't quite know how to do that.

The Reassign Instruments is (I believe) in the MIDI/Audio menu.

unfortunately, reassigning instruments breaks the playback for me. I only hear anything that involves strings. ie strings, harp, piano
