Hi, I have problem, in v27 when dragging expressions that they snap to various different places around the staff, but never where I drag them to? The handle just jumps away from the expression and the expression moves somewhere else as well. Never seen this happen before in any version of Finale. Is there some new auto setting that I'm not aware of?

I just posted about the same issue in the Finale Forum :-D and Mike helped me with that as well. For me, I still can't drag expressions, lyrics, etc., where I want because they somehow still snap, but if I use my up-down arrow keys on the selected item I can place it just where I want it.

Big Sur issue.

Change to the simple entry tool
Close the file
reopen the file
Expressions should now drag correctly.

Thanks Greg,  This only works for one file, then you have to do it for each file.

Anybody have any other suggestions...it's certainly causing me  a

major time wasting headache.

Has anyone sent this in to tech support?

Unfortunately, I don't know ... Can you report it?

I will, and I stand corrected. I'm having the same issue.

EDIT: It happened with the first default doc I tried. I made sure that Snap to Grid was unchecked. I restarted F27, and when I tried a couple of other docs from the templates, all was well.

What measurement units are you all using? I'm on EVPUs.

I'm using inches.

I'm still having the issue. I thought that since I'm still using my old default document that I customized myself, that since it is using a non-SMuFL font from the older version of Finale, that perhaps that could affect it. But I opened up some of the template files and some of the Worksheets and Repertoire files, and still had the same problem.

What is interesting is that when it 'snaps' to a new location, the distance depends on the distance I drag it in the first place. If I drag it a very small distance, it 'snaps' to a very small distance away. If I drag it a longer distance, it 'snaps' to a correspondingly long distance.

I use all the measurement units and it doesn't work well.

Hi Everyone,

As Greg reported above, this issue is with Finale v27.0 on macOS 11 Big Sur only. Selecting the Simple Entry tool, then closing and reopening the file is current work around until we have a permanent fix (which we are currently working on).

You can get more details on the issue at our knowledge base article here. Click the follow button to get updates on this as we look into resolving this quickly.

Thank you for the work-around, but what a pain! Please let us know when this is fixed.

What works for me for now is selecting the expression and using the arrow keys to move it where I want it to be. Until they fix the big this is the most convenient workaround for me.
