Steps:

1. create new default document

2. enter a note

3. Use Articulation tool to add "accent with dot" articulation. (Articulation no. 6 in default library.)

4. Move articulation below note to use "flipped" version (Maestro character "fl ligature")

5. articulation shows correctly in score.

6. Print to PDF (or use Graphics: export to PDF, or print to PS file).

PROBLEM: In the PDF, the articulation shows as "fl" ligature in 24-pt Helvetica.

I suspect this has something to do with Font Manager doing something related to the ligature character. Would be great it if it would not do this!

SOLUTION: Discovered that it only happens with Maestro font; turned out I was accidentally using an older copy of Maestro. Switched to a newer one, problem went away.

Blake Hodgetts,

Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce your problem in my own copy of Finale v26.

For me the articulation shows correctly in the PDF file.

But I am on Mac OS Big Sur 11.6 …

Do you happen also to have Finale 27 installed? Because if you do, your fonts might be different. Just thinking of ways our systems might be different other than OS version; I do not have Finale 27 installed.

Interestingly, the problem does not happen when I set the default font to "Engraver Font Set" instead of "Maestro".

I tried a bunch of other fonts and it only happens with Maestro...there seems to be something wrong with my installed copy of Maestro. I don't think this is a bug but I'll leave it here in case anyone has a similar problem.

I know the new SMuFL fonts are freely available to download. Perhaps the legacy fonts are as well. You should consider checking on that at the finalemusic.com web site.
