Mac Catalina 10.15.7

I get the following message when trying to apply glissando from the Smart Playback box:

Nothing done (no Smart Shapes or Articulations found for selected Smart Playback options, or no free layers).

Changing the # of steps per quarter note didn't help.

(This is for an electric bass)
