It can be done - by adding the playback in the Finale document’s MIDI data, instead of using the Playback Control’s {Human Playback} directly.

MIDI Tool.

MIDI Tool menu > Apply Human Playback…

I tried using your suggestion and it did not work. Probably because I don’t understand the process. Do you highlight the measures of your score that you want to apply the Human Playback style to, and then select the “Apply” button in the dialog box that comes up? Also, I should mention that I am using the current version of Finale for Windows in case that matters.

James Caplik,

The first step is this:

In the Playback Controls, set Human Playback to None.

My guess is that “it did not work”, because you had not set Human Playback to None in the Playback Controls.

I did set it to None as prompted by the software. So per my previous reply, do you select the measures you want the Human Playback to be assigned to and choose Apply in the dialog box?

Yes. And it works for me.

To find out what you are doing wrong, please specify your exact steps, so that others can try to reproduce your problem.

What are you trying to achieve?

How are you trying to do it?

What happens when you do that?

What doesn't happen that you expect to happen?

One other question: Does it matter if you are using Garritan versus SmartMusic SoftSynth?
