Finale v25 is a 64-bit application. The former TG Tools are not compatible. There is a new (beta) version designed to work with Finale v25.
And if you are concerned about playback, I usually put the x-notes in a separate layer that I can mute or assign to an unpitched instrument.
This situation has happened for ages. It is harmless since, as you say, the display returns to normal after playback. Finale developers have bigger fish to fry than to waste time on this situation.
I think we need a clearer understanding of what you are trying to accomplish. Is this what you mean?
